Canned Food Drive

FHS is hosting a canned food drive to donate to different food pantries. The school is doing a contest to see which grade can bring in the most cans. The grade that brings in the most cans wins a mystery prize. Make sure to donate.

Publications Update

Right now in Publications, the 2020-21 Fairland High School yearbook is being created. Writers developed a story for the comic book theme, and managers are finding ideas for the cover design. The photographers have been taking great pictures at events and around the school, and the page-makers are already working on the Winter section of the book. There is still plenty of work to be completed, but the class is making steady process.

Virtual Learning

FHS had to go to virtual learning for two weeks because a couple students contracted the COVID 19 virus. Many students had to quarantine due to close contact with students who tested positive. After two weeks, students returned to the classroom on October 27th.

Spirit Week

Spirit week’s main purpose is to inspire students to be happy, be brave, and be drug free. Our dress up days are Team Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Disney/Superhero Day, and Fairland Friday (Green and White). We are raising spirit for round four of the play-offs this Saturday!

Cookie Monster Contest

Recently, Ms. Harmon’s art students made Cookie Monster posters for a competition to advertise Cookie Friday for Ms. Lori. Every student who participated was generously rewarded with milk and cookies in class. The winners received larger prizes. In first place, Sydney Adkins, 10th grade, chose a ten dollar gift card, as well as Charisma Aurthur, 10th grade, in third place. In second place, Haylee Dehart, 10th grade, chose free cookies for the school year, and so did fourth place April Foster, 9th grade. Six honorable mentions were given gift bags. The first and second place winners will also receive a stuffed Cookie Monster.

Homecoming and Student Council Elections

The 2020 Homecoming Court and Student Council elections were held on September 11th. The Senior president is Jesse Lewis, Vice-President is Emma Marshall, Secretary is Lexi Hall, Treasurer is Abbe Kiritsy, Historian is Sydney Thompson, and the Representatives are Gracie Allen and Gavin Hunt. Homecoming Court consists of Senior Attendant Gracie Allen, Sophomore Attendant Ryan Henry, Freshman Attendant Emma Barnette, Fire Queen Emma Ward, Homecoming King Zach Stewart, and Homecoming Queen Emma Marshall.

Report Cards

Report cards came out Friday, November 6th. Everyone’s grades are looking good so far. We are excited for the second nine weeks!

Publications Update 2

Everyone is working on pages and some people are still waiting for pictures to put on the page. Everyone is getting their pages done for fall and starting on their winter pages, and they look very nice so far. There is a lot of work we still have to do. We have just finished our cover design and it looks great. We are super excited for this book!

Toy Drive

Beta Club is hosting a toy drive. Donations will be taken to Family Children’s Hospital. Donations will end December 11th. Help spread the word!

Student of the Month

FHS has a student of the month from each grade. They are nominated by teachers monthly. They hold a conference each month and invite their parents, and the teachers explain their nomination reasoning. Congrats to this month’s winners!

3v3 Tournament

Fairland High School is hosting a 3v3 tournament Saturday at 11. You need to have a team of three registered by Thursday, March 25. The amount to play is $10 per person. They are charging $3 for admissions for people to come watch. The concession will be open and have pizza and drinks. Come support your team!

Local Scholarships

For the class of 2021, many local businesses and citizens are giving out scholarships. These scholarship applications were handed out to all the seniors and were due March 23. The recipients will be selected and announced at Class Night in May.

Prom Confirmed

Governor Dewine is allowing high schools to have proms. Fairland High School’s prom is scheduled for April 24th. There will be some restrictions, but there will be still a promenade starting at 5.

After 3v3 Tournament

On March 28, the Student Council held their 2nd annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament. This year's raised money will go towards a scholarship for a student. There was a great turnout, and the Student Council is looking forward to hosting the tournament again next year!

Varsity Vocals Fundraiser

This year, the Varsity Vocals class is selling flowers for their fundraiser. This money will go toward new music and play material for the next school year.

Spring Break

Fairland High School and all other schools in the district had their spring break on April 4-April 9 in 2021. Students enjoyed Good Friday off along with the following week off. It was a very nice and warm week in Proctorville, Ohio with a temperature averaging around 80.

Quiz bowl

The Quiz Bowl team has been practicing recently, They will have their first tourney at the end of the month. Brennen Hall and the team look to have a good year.
