The Ohio School Immunization requirements have changed for the 2010-2011 school year.

  • Students entering Kindergarten will now be required to have 2 doses of the varicella (Chicken pox) vaccine.

  • All students entering the 7th grade must have the Tdap vaccine.

Several 7th Grade students still need to submit documentation that they have received this immunization. Please contact your child's physician to ensure the proper steps are taken to fulfill these obligations. Documentation for vaccine administration should be forwarded to your child's school.

Healthy Choices for Healthy Children Act

Ohio Senate Bill 210 was signed into law on June 18, 2010. One of the first requirements of this law is to begin Body Mass Index screenings on students in District and Community schools. Detailed information concerning Fairland's participation with this law will be coming home with students soon! (This new screening will involve students in Kindergarten, 3rd, 5th, and 9th grade.)

If there is any change in your student's health status, I would appreciate being informed. Certain health concerns like Chicken Pox and Influenza need reported to the Lawrence County Health Department.

Have you moved or has your contact information changed? Please remember to inform your student's school with any new or changed information.

You can e-mail me at  [email protected]  with that information, or send it in a note to school, addressed to me.
