First Grade Newsletter
Jan. 29 - Feb. 2
Reading
We will learn the sounds of long /o/ spelled oa_ & _ow. We will also learn about long /o/ spelled _ew & _ue. We will begin reading stories about “Roots and Seeds”. We will also continue reading “Decodable Books” the same as last year. When a decodable book comes home please have your child read it to you and sign the sheet that is in the Nightly Folder. The books need to be returned the next day. Reading Logs are due on Thursday, Feb. 1st.
Math
We will continue working on Chapter 5 “Place Value”. The titles of the lessons this week are “Use Models to Compare”, “Use Symbols to Compare Numbers”, “Number to 120”, & “Count to 120”. We will be celebrating the 100th
Day of School!!! We will also be doing
calendar.
Social Studies
We will read and discuss books about “Groundhog Day”.
Science
We will read and discuss books in our Reading Series about “Roots and Seeds”
Homework

Tuesday- 100th Day of School

School will be Tuesday, Jan. 30th
Please
send all 100th day collections, 100th day snacks, and
marshmallows & toothpicks to school by Monday, Jan. 29th. I know
the kids will have a great time celebrating the 100th day of
