March 9-13, 2020

 

Reading

 We will learn the letter sound for long Ee. We will finish our reading unit called Rules We Follow. We will read Family Rules, That’s Not Fair & Friday Trouble.

 The new vocabulary words are: board, chance, chores, equal, follow, moved, switch & wait

Our decodable book this week is ”We Did It”. 

   Our new words are: 

            be & she

 

Math

We will continue Drops in the Bucket Math. We will also finish Chapter 10 on positional words. 

High Frequency Words                                  

Please practice all high frequency words daily.

     Writing

 We will begin journal writing. We will continue to work blending words, spacing between words, using punctuation correctly and writing complete sentences. 

We will also write about Stranger Danger in writing group.

   Dictation

   Our dictation will consist of 7 sounds, 5 words and a sentence.

*Spelling test will be on Friday March 13th.

   Please remember coats & appropriate shoes for the playground. We go out at 11:00  and usually need jackets.

STUDENT OF THE WEEK:

Amelia McKee-Thurs.

On the day of the week listed above, the student of the week may bring one special toy for show and tell and a couple pictures of their family and/or pets.

Frogs       

We will begin a unit on frogs and learn about their life cycle. We will sing songs, read books, make art projects.

 Books for Ribbons

Friday-May 1st  will be the last day to receive ribbons for reading books.

*The kids have been doing a wonderful job reading books.

I am so proud of them!!!

Please have them continue to practice reading books throughout the summer.

 

        Science

    We will begin reading books to learn about seed and how plants grow. The kids will plant their own seeds to watch them grow in our classroom. In a few weeks, the kids will plant their own bean and sunflower seeds so they can compare them as they grow and change. The children will keep a plant journal to record their plant’s growth.
